About the Co-Authors

CARLEEN H. GLASSER, M.A.

Carleen Glasser, M.A. has twenty-five years experience in education, twelve of which were as a school counselor, specializing in group work with all ages using her extensive training in substance abuse counseling and Reality Therapy. She has taught at the college level, both on and off campus at the college of Mt. St. Joseph and Xavier University. She has been a Senior Faculty member of The William Glasser Institute since 1994 and presently serves on the Legal Board of Directors of that Institute.  As a senior instructor she has taught Basic and Advanced Intensive Weeks and Basic and Advanced Practicum sessions at the Glasser's home since 2000.

Mrs. Glasser has worked with her husband, William Glasser, M.D. teaching his ideas all over the world. She served as a presenter at the Milton Erickson Foundation Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference, American Counseling Association Conference, Connecticut Counselors Association, Alfred Adler-Adlerian Conference in Vancouver, B.D., Michigan Counselors Association, Marriage and Family Counseling Association in San Francisco, CA, Memphis, Tennessee Foster Parents Association, Idaho Correctional Counseling Association in Boise, Idaho, South Carolina Counseling Association and North Carolina Counseling Association.  Outside of the United States she has presented in Dublin, Ireland, Tokyo, Japan, Zagreb, Croatia, London, England, Seoul, Korea, Lake Bled, Slovenia, Modena, Italy, Oslo, Norway, Australia and New Zealand.

Recently she has been appointed to the Council for the Human Rights of Children and spoke at a symposium on Counselor Education at Oxford University in Great Britain. She has done numerous presentations at the International Conference of the William Glasser Institute.

Her books and activities, which teach Choice Theory to children, have been used in many countries besides the U.S. and have been translated into the Korean, French, German, Hebrew, Croatian and Russian languages. She has co-authored three books with Dr. Glasser, The Language of Choice Theory, What Is This Thing Called Love?  and Getting Together and Staying Together, all published since 1999.

Since 1995 she has helped Dr. Glasser by editing his nine most recent books and offering creative suggestions in the design and graphics of these books. She has also appeared with him in several professional audio and videotapes produced for educators, counselors, and married couples.

Mrs. Glasser's mission is to promote Choice Theory and all its applications to help people learn to live happier, healthier and more productive lives.

CLARANN J. GOLDRING, Ph.D.

Clarann J. Goldring, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Sherman Oaks, California. She has been in practice as a Marriage-Family Counselor and as a Psychologist. Her training was at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Family Relations with emotionally disturbed children.  Her specialty is in relationships with couples and with families. FAY VAN DER KAR-LEVINSON, PH.D.

Fay Van Der Kar-Levinson, Ph.D. is a psychologist in private practice in West Los Angeles, California. She specializes in matching individual learning styles with appropriate educational programs. As a child development expert, Dr. Van der Kar-Levinson provides consultation and support for parents and children.
